About Us

"Participating in the 2008 TOP fundraiser gave me an inside view of how a small, grassroots organization can make a big difference in children's lives. I think TOP's three-pronged focus on academics, tennis, and personal development is the secret of their success in helping scores of Chicago's kids achieve so much, including state high school championships and college scholarships. Tennis is a sport played by millions of people. Children have much to gain by learning its lifelong lessons of dedication, persistence, enthusiasm, intelligence, and sportsmanship. TOP is developing winners in tennis and in life, by helping children believe in themselves. I am delighted to be a part of that effort and I encourage everyone, who can, to support TOP and the TOP kids."

TOP is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide economically disadvantaged children with the opportunity to achieve excellence - as students, as players, and as citizens. Our objective is to develop educated people, as well as excellent tennis players. In the broader sense, TOP's mission is to help its participants become better students and citizens by using tennis as a tool to teach life lessons and reinforce positive behavior. The organization has been operating in the Chicago area for more than fifteen years.

TOP's three objectives:

To provide tutoring and academic monitoring for all who are experiencing academic difficulty.

To provide mentoring in the areas of personal, social, and emotional growth.

To provide professional tennis instruction and equipment.

The mission, goals, and objectives are based on the premise that personal and academic excellence, combined with good tennis rankings, can provide a pathway to attend college and achieve success in life.
